I have a spirit of a traveller. I can't imagine what could be interesting and exciting than exploring new places, getting to know new cultures and exploring new natural wonders. I have always been especially attracted by countries with tropical climate and free spirit. City of Cartagena was a great inspiration for me! spirit of this place combines historical value and beautiful tropical vegetation.

The narrow streets of the old city saturated with history, sometimes cruel, are combined with incredible freedom of people! Even today, women put on national costumes to attract tourists and they do it so sincerely that for a few minutes it seems that you are in the past. Enhances the impressions of the city the sea breeze and incredible sunsets that can be observed from the walls of the old city. My visit to this incredible and colorful city became an inspiration for this painting .

Cartagena is the city beloved by the sun and the sea...

This is truly incredibly aesthetic to watch how gracefully clumsy looking pelicans dive into the ocean at sunset to scoop up their prey, and on the other side of of the old city you see women in their dresses carry huge trays of fruits, made as if from a sketch of a pelican's beak.

In this painting I wanted to show a very dynamic play of richness and rhythms of colors , sunny shades flowing and piercing the entire canvas . Here is shown ethnic historical component and at the same time stylization of images dictating the modern approach to the performance of such work. The detailing is done in an expressive manner conveying a powerful energy charge and mood . The images of pelicans fit very organically into the plot as their breaks were associated with a tray full of fruits like fishing nets luring seafood.
