Eucalypts and Corymbias

Eucalypts and Corymbias is a large-scale work in which Sarah Beetson brings together botanical observation and lyrical abstraction. Composed of spiny, spiked eucalyptus blossoms rendered in vivid pinks and aquas, the artwork explores a diverse range of gumnut species drawn from across Australia. Beetson deliberately selects species distinguished by their rich chromatic variation, assembling a spectrum of colour that unfolds in rhythmic, linear formations. Through this emphasis on line, the work foregrounds the artist’s enduring commitment to drawing as both structure and expression, transforming native flora into a dynamic visual language that is at once celebratory, meticulous, and contemporary.
