Bounce

Miami Beach, Florida

Bounce is the artistic practice of Toronto-born, Miami Beach-based contemporary artist David Wilson (b. 1979). His medium is the bouncy ball: thousands of colorful spheres, sourced from around the world and permanently suspended in crystal-clear resin, come together to form large-scale portraits.

From across the room, each work resolves into a recognizable subject. Up close, the image dissolves into a sculptural landscape of individual spheres, revealing an intricate world of swirls, smiley faces, cars, cats, aliens, and countless other novelty motifs. The experience is one of constant discovery, shifting between the whole and its parts, recognition and surprise. Playfulness draws the viewer in; precision rewards a closer look. It’s work people talk about, point at, and call friends over to see.

At the heart of Bounce is a simple belief: every fall is just a bigger launch. The bouncy ball embodies a philosophy of energy, movement, and possibility. A bounce is never just a return to where something started, but a chance to go higher, change direction, or set something else in motion. For Wilson, life should be fun, and art should capture that spirit: optimistic, kinetic, and full of possibility.

Wilson earned a BFA from the University of Michigan, where he studied graphic design and screenwriting. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles before settling in Miami Beach, where he has lived for more than two decades. He built a career in marketing and experiential production, developing campaigns and large-scale activations for brands including ESPN, Mercedes-Benz, Moët Hennessy, and Omega, as well as emerging companies. That background in visual communication sharpened his instinct for composition, color, and impact, and Bounce channels it into a distinctive artistic language.

Bounce launched in June 2026 and found an audience almost immediately. Within months, Wilson had closed multiple private commissions and made his art fair debut at The Chicago Art Fair with Mido Galeria, where he is a resident artist. He is scheduled to exhibit at CONTEXT Art Fair during Miami Art Week in December 2026, followed by the San Francisco Art Fair in April 2027. His work is held in private collections, with large-format commissions underway for residences in Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Toronto. Demand has quickly outpaced availability, and his commission waitlist will reopen in 2027.
