Rhythm in Shades, 2024

This abstract diptych by Kim Stadin contains two 36" x 36" pieces and titled Rhythm in Shades, explores the interplay of light, shadow, and subtle color. The composition features meticulously poured vertical stripes in an elegant palette of blacks, whites, grays, and delicate hints of pink and blue/ purple. The sleek lines create a rhythmic flow, reminiscent of a modern cityscape or the quiet cadence of music in monochrome. At the base of the painting, a textured layer of paint peels introduces depth and contrast, withvibrant accents of color adding a touch of energy and movement. This tactile element groundsthe piece, offering a dynamic contrast to the clean precision of the vertical stripes above. The two pieces can be displayed with a small space between them for adynamic, segmented effect, or pushed together to create the illusion of onecontinuous artwork.
