About the work
Aotearoa Flowers is a vibrant composition in which Sarah Beetson turns her attentive eye toward the native flora of Aotearoa New Zealand. Bringing together species from both the North and South Islands, and spanning multiple flowering seasons, the work weaves botanical diversity into a unified and celebratory whole. Beetson’s precise linear drawing underpins a rich interplay of colour and form, allowing each species to retain its distinct character while contributing to a harmonious visual rhythm. The result is an artwork that honours place, ecology, and time, translating the cyclical abundance of Aotearoa’s landscapes into a contemporary, exuberant field of colour.
